Imagine a place where our community truly comes together—where a Center for Active Living (CAL) member teaches a teenager how to change their oil, where a grandmother shares her secret recipe with young families, where retired teachers help students with homework while parents attend a quick planning meeting down the hall.
Picture your child playing safely in a supervised space while you squeeze in a workout. Envision high schoolers training for the swim team, or better yet, ensuring every teen learns water safety before heading to the beach with friends. Think about local musicians recording their next album, neighbors launching podcasts, and crafters gathering to share their skills.
This isn't just a building—it's a hub where loneliness has no place, where every generation has something to offer and something to gain, where memories are made and traditions are passed down.
It's where York becomes more connected, more vibrant, more us.
The Friends of York Community Center (FYCC) exists to turn this vision into reality without burdening our neighbors. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we're dedicated to raising the funds needed to build and sustain this multi-generational gathering space, significantly reducing the financial impact on York taxpayers.
We believe this community center should be built by the community, and for the community. That's why we're bringing together residents, businesses, and supporters who share this vision—people who understand that investing in connection pays dividends no tax bill can measure.
The FYCC serves as the fundraising arm and grassroots champion for the York Community Center project. We work to:
Raise Funds: Secure donations, grants, and resources to develop the center and minimize the tax burden on York residents
Advocate: Champion a facility that truly serves everyone—from toddlers to seniors, from athletes to artists
Engage: Create ongoing conversations with community members to ensure the center reflects our collective dreams
Support: Promote programs that foster health, wellness, education, and meaningful connections across generations
Together, we can create a place where every person in York belongs, where neighbors become friends, and where our community's heart beats strongest.
Join us in bringing this vision to life.
